"When we leave this earth, we should remember that what we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone at the graveside's edge and upon other monuments of recognition, but what has touched and has been woven into the lives of others. It is a wonderful feeling to love, but to love and be loved is to feel the radiance of the sun from both sides."

Thought for today:

“Some of the most important questions in life are rarely asked by us. It is as though we take our life for granted. I don't necessarily mean those mind boggling issues that ask, 'Why are you here', but other simpler things like, 'Why do birds sing?' The answer is older than the hills. Birds sing because they have a song to sing!' so, when you find out the answer to 'Why you are here', recognise your purpose in life as 'to sing your song.' Love and Peace.”

“Your life is so important. Don't spend it and waste it living someone else's dream. Why not go out into the world and find something or someone you are prepared to die for. If you cannot find something or someone who is good enough to die for, you are not fit to live.”

“Joy will never be found in things. It is in us. If you possess anything tangible in this world that hurts you more to give away than your love, get rid of it, for it is not worth keeping. If you possess any object that hurts you more to have broken than witnessing the tear or one feeling of another, then it is not worth owning. If anything you keep does not enhance your personality, ask yourself, is it needed and truly worth keeping? I'm not suggesting that you should abandon the material things of life, but simply not to acquire and maintain them at the cost of abandoning one's spirituality, sensitivity and soul.”

"Today would have been my father's birthday. He was one of the most modest men I ever knew; a characteristic of which I am seriously in short supply. I was 11 years old before he revealed to me that he had played football for his country in Ireland. On the day in question, being too poor to pay the £2. 10 shillings cost for a football shirt for me to play in the school football team, he went upstairs and presented me with the shirt that he used to wear when he played for Ireland. The shirt naturally buried me, but I have never felt as proud as that day or had a better spring in my step, while all the other boys were naturally envious." “Discover a new part of you by learning to 'let go', by 'developing a lighter attitude to life in general,' by 'cultivating a fresh outlook on life', by using every opportunity to reinvent yourself and 'view strangers as simply being future friends you haven’t yet come to know and bond with.' Learn to 'let go' and life will come around much sweeter to your palate.”

“Isn't life strange? The advancement of knowledge increases greatly day-by-day and yet, we know so little about what lies on the other side of the green sod. We often think we know another when in truth, we can never know anybody. The best chance we have to know someone is when we try to know ourselves.”

Thought for today:

"Some folk say that St. Patrick was Scottish; some say Welsh and some even say that he hailed from other foreign parts. Almost all outside the Emerald Isle agree that he wasn't Irish!

Well, if that's what you choose to believe, consider this. All Irish folk know that it was Jesus himself who turned five loaves and fishes into a feed for thousands. We also know who turned all sheep born on Irish grass into 'Irish Sheep.'

Happy St. Patrick's day to all my family, near and far, to my friends and acquaintances and to all my ex's. If you want to make today a special St. Patrick's Day, phone, text or visit your loved ones today and tell them, 'I love you.' For any of you whose parents still occupy this side of the green sod, give them a bunch of flowers now and not when they are deceased and on the other side of life. Happy St. Patrick's Day. Love and peace."

"What a joy it is to laugh
and find humour in each day.
What a joy it is to love
and find pleasure in one's play.
What a joy it is to cry
 with happiness, reconciliation and relief.
What a joy it is to first discover then believe.
What a joy it is to walk
when one was told they'd never walk again,
in breeze, sun, snow, shower, hail and mist
and if needs be, even in the rain.
What a joy to do. What a joy to be.”

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves."

"Often we tend to forget that 'happiness' comes not as a result of getting something we don't have, but of recognising and truly appreciating what we do have. The only things one needs in one's 'happy bag' are respect of self and others, along with the capacity to receive and express love, to internalise all experience and sieve out only the 'good,' to cherish friends and maintain regular contact, to tolerate all neighbours, to love God and never to abandon or turn one's back on one's family".

“A nice reminder to commemorate those brave British soldiers that were recently killed in the line of their duty:'The British flag does not fly because the wind moves past it. The British flag flies from the last breath of each military member who has died protecting it. British soldiers don't fight because they hate what's in front of them. They fight because they love what's behind them.'”

"Some pursue happiness and never find it while some who have it cherish and create it. The road to lasting happiness will not be found searching the highways and byways made by mankind. It cannot be found up the highest mountain nor down the deepest wishing well. And yet, the road to happiness is accessible to all who walk in peace, love and understanding. It is not the mountain we need to conquer, but oneself; for it is only when there is no enemy within, no enemy outside one can ever hurt."

"Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said, 'The rays of happiness, like those of light, are colourless when unbroken,' but I cannot possibly agree. Over the past years I have seen so many truly happy people in all manner of circumstances which might have bewildered others, and yet, the single thing that was most evident was the happiness that emanated from them. One could physically see it in their faces, sense it in their presence and touch it in their words. There was certainly nothing about their rays of happiness that were colourless; they stood out like a rainbow of hope and eternal brightness in a darkened and cloud- covered sky. Love and peace.

"Just as the dawn chorus of the birds herald a new day, so the wheel of life inexorably turns as it's designed to do. Just as the onset of rain invokes tears of the soul and regrets of the heart, and the loving smile of the sun radiates a warmth that can only live within, so the hierarchy of Earth's elements combine to govern our stars and influence our behaviour. Just as ever cast clouds darken our doorstep and finally break our hearts, a new day is heralded by Him who made all days and we are called to give account of the old. Thus birds are inextricably linked in Nature to the dawn of mankind and the finish of one's day."
