Introduction

The whole of my early development was shaped and influenced by the belief that ‘I was special.’ Having spent the first twenty five years of my life believing that I was special, I discovered that I was, but ‘so was every other human or creature that occupied this earth of ours!’

After discovering that everyone is special, I went about my newfound purpose in life persuading other men, women and children of how special they and their fellow beings are! In this aim, I was very fortunate to receive the help, support and ongoing services of almost nine hundred ‘very special’ people who shared my values and objectives in my work with children. 

Over eight hundred and fifty of them gave up their time to visit schools and libraries in Yorkshire and other counties to publicly read from my published books to storytelling assemblies. To me they are all ‘very special’ people whom the bulk of society might more readily call ‘Celebrities.’ During the course of my contact with many celebrities over the years, there have been many things that I have learnt that would simply be inappropriate to mention here. I do include a number of previously unreported incidents and comments however, most by and about celebrities who have since died; along with a few political figures who are no longer in Office. I have avoided doing a 'kiss and tell' expose and touch upon a few delicate opinions where truth necessitates. A number of these experiences are described in the following pages.
