'Tales from Portlaw'
I was born in Portlaw and when my time comes to lie at the other side of the green sod, it is my wish that part of my ashes shall be placed upon my grandparents' grave, William and Mary Fanning, along with my uncle Willie Fanning and Johnnie Fanning who are also buried there.
Having been born in Portlaw, it is appropriate to enlarge upon this particular section 'Tales from Portlaw', in which I will recount the tales that my mother told me all the years I was growing up in West Yorkshire, England about 'the old country' across the Irish Sea.
I have taken the germ of truth in her stories and have made that fact the central thread of my story. I then extended all of these stories by use of my fiction and writer's imagination. I have however, extensively researched information for my background of certain places, events and people who play a character role in my stories. Any resemblance to anyone who ever lived or came from Portlaw in either name, likeness or character description is purely co-incidental.
Having now published 66 (sixty six) books for children, young persons and adults, all my future writing will take the form of romantic stories. These stories may occasionally touch upon more saucy material and are geared solely to adult readership. They will be published as e-books under the title, 'Tales from Portlaw Volume One, two, three etc.etc.' They may be purchased from www.smashwords.com in e-book format or from amazon or www.lulu.com in hard copy. All profit from the sales of my books will be given to charitable causes in perpetuity, as was the two hundred thousand pounds (£200,000) profits from the sales of my books between 1989 and 2005.
Many pictures of Portlaw Square have been kindly supplied by photographer, Sean O'Brien of Portlaw, County Waterford. Enjoy.
