![]() "On this weekend; the holiest time of the year in the Christian calender, I will depart from my usual philosophical message and deliver a religious one instead. This is Easter; a time to remember what we are all about. I hope that we may all be able to 'rise to the occasion' and appreciate those among us who never give less of themselves than is needed and always give more than is asked for. These are magic people in our lives and they do great things because they have found the source of goodness in all; and that is that all have some goodness in them. For most, we will only be accorded the respect of others when we deserve it, but for them, they automatically give us respect upon first meeting; long before we have earned it. They do this because they know that one cannot respect and love one's self until first, respect and love are given to others. This is the true bible interpretation of what Jesus meant when he instructed us, 'to love our neighbour as one's self.' So, in a roundabout way, the only way that we can love one's self is to love our God and we do that through loving our neighbour; and visa versa. Simple, yet strange, isn't it? It's taken me nearly 70 years to truly understand. Happy Easter." William Forde 6th April, 2012.
