"The first words that I read this morning referred to hearing the whispers of the tree amid all the commotion of everyday life. This led me to recall a very dear man who in his final days of life when he was dying from cancer, phoned me up at 8.45am to wish me luck on the publication launch of a new book of mine. His name was Roy Castle. I was so moved by this generous gesture of his that I promised him there and then that I would write my next published book for his special charity. "I'll let you read it first though," I added.
I will never forget his reply: "Nay, Bill, I won't be around to read it lad, but I'm sure that I'll like it. And even if I'm not there, remember, the birds shall still sing, the grass will still grow, the flowers will still bloom and the wind shall still blow."
How right he was. Even at his time of death, he was giving out the message that life still goes on. A truly great man. The book was eventually published. It was called 'Nancy's Song' and deals with the death of a loving father and the emotional impact it has on his family. God bless you, Roy."
