"There is a bond between a mother and her young which none can deny. Just as a grieving gorilla has been known to physically bury their deceased offspring, the bond that exists between humans and their pets is also truly remarkable.
Such closeness is often best seen in situations of extreme vulnerability in which an unwell creature and an unwell child find themselves in close union of feelings and position.
Imagine telling your pet sparrow that you nursed back to health that you now have terminal cancer and just knowing that it understands your silent sorrow. Imagine having to tell your pet puppy and kitten that your parents have to move house and that their new tenancy agreement does not allow animals to live there with them, so you will have to place them in an animal care home where they may find another owner if they're lucky.
Worse of all, imagine a world without the presence of pets in our daily lives. Pets are capable of demonstrating a type of loyalty and unqualified love that few humans are capable of ever truly experiencing. Take from this world their loving daily presence and the world remaining would be greatly impoverished." William Forde : November 4th, 2013.
