"I shall spend today in hospital again receiving a blood transfusion that I now seem to require once every three weeks in order to keep my body organs functioning.
I therefore found my daily thoughts returning to a time during my childhood when I spent the better part of many years in and out of hospital. Indeed, there was a three year period between the ages of twelve and fifteen when home and hospital shared my daily presence and became synonimous in the role of primary carer. Whatever anyone else can say about the NHS, it has served me well during the whole of my life.
So splash in the waters of your youth for as long as you can, for old age offers up more memories than moments of that childhood innocence and magic that makes all things possible today." William Forde: December 3rd, 2014.
