"Far, far better to make up and be friends than to lock horns in mortal combat, especially as Christmas time approaches. Christmas is that magical time of year when the most hardened heart is capable of melting and the most misererly of spirits find a generosity within they didn't know was there.
During my life I have come across so many people who have not spoken with some family member, neighbour or previous friend for many years. Often the time spanning this silence has been so long that they sometimes cannot remember the precise cause of their disagreement which brought about the enstrangement.
Life is far too short to allow ill feeling and enmity to sever blood ties or to come between two stubborn people who were once best friends. As December 25th approaches, let all residual bitterness and feelings of ill will melt away and allow back into your heart, the love that once freely flowed there for all.
Permit the promise of the Christmas star to shine down on you and to touch the tenderness within, for if you carry the emnity of this past year into the New Year, your cross will become too heavy to bear. Until you make peace with your brother, your neighbour and all others with an outstretched hand you will never be at peace with yourself or your God. "William Forde: December 1st, 2014.
