"Believe in yourself and in the power of God working through you and all days will remain good days and the power of love will never desert you. Those who doubt will believe only in the things they can see and touch, while wiser souls are left to dream of more substantial things, of good lives lived and life that is yet to come.
I go into hospital again today for my fortnightly blood transfusion. Since my last transfusion, I have been having some hormone injections in an attempt to boost my red blood-cell count which has been perilously low since Christmas time. This treatment is not without risk and my body has shown increased signs of discomfort since my last transfusion with a persistent cough, wheezy chest, flu-like symptoms and some bone and muscle pain. I am currently completing a course of antibiotics.
Despite these irksome problems however, I remain positive about the hormone treatment I am receiving and I know that these symptoms will eventually pass. I cannot tell you how I know, except to say that I feel it will be so. The thing about belief is the blind faith that accompanies it. Faith does not require to be seen in order to touch one's destiny. Faith is the capacity to believe in that which we cannot see and by so doing, see that in which we believe.
Neither is belief too different from that of its twin, love, and the presence of one is never seen without the other. Those whom we love, we naturally believe in and those whom we believe in we love. When you know that you love someone, you can take away the earthly wrapping and still retain the substance of the unique gift you hold; you can remove the feeling, the passion and the romance and you will still find out that you love that person. Similarly, when you believe in someone, you don't need to see them standing alongside you to know that they do and always will. Ask anyone who's lifelong soul mate died if they are aware of their constant presence and influence and they will confirm that death is but another room.
Think me a fool if you must, but let me assure you that every time in my life when I have needed God, He has always been there for me; and every time I have embraced him, he has hugged me back tighter. Now that is what I call the power of love!" William Forde: April 4th, 2016.
