My song today is ‘When I Dream’. This song was written by Sandy Mason Theoret, and recorded by American country music artist Crystal Gayle. It was released in April 1979 as the third and final single and title track from the June 1978 album ‘When I Dream’. The song reached Number 3 on the ‘Billboard Hot Country Singles & Track Chart’. The song was originally released on her 1975 eponymous debut album and was re-recorded for her 1978 album. The song was later recorded by Willie Nelson on his 1986 album ‘Partners’.

We all have dreamed of having the ideal partner to walk down the aisle, and to settle down with at the end of the day. Day endings can sometimes be so empty when one is on their own. How does one know when they have met their Mr. or Mrs Right?
Soul mates are usually on the same wavelength in all important matters. They think of each other at the same time and they are your favourite place to go to when you have had a bad day. Their voice is your favourite sound when you wake up, and you never want to be without them as you know there are things you love about them that you will never find in another person. I believe that a woman can be flattered a million times by a million different men telling her that she is beautiful to look at and wonderful to be with, but if she is wise, she will only believe these words from the man she truly loves. In the final analysis, true love would rather be with the one they love however bad the circumstances they have to withstand together than be with any other person in a more favourable wind.
You know that you have found the right person for you when you believe that they would rather go through bad times with you than good times with anyone else. I would much prefer to go through life with the woman who holds me to account and my heart to hers than one who is afraid to challenge my wrongs and becomes emotionally distant whenever we disagree.
This is what I found in my wife Sheila during my 68th year of life when I was not looking for another woman, believing that I would never find love again. I discovered that a dream is but a dream when you dream it alone, but the same dream dreamt by two people at the same time can become a beautiful reality. I believe that fate wills the part we are each destined to play in our lives, and that Sheila and I dared to dream and wished upon the same star in God’s eternal firmament, and that He smiled down on us kindly thereafter.
I sometimes wonder at all the good things which have come my way, and think perhaps my entire life has been a heavenly dream that I will not wake up from until I die?
Love and peace Bill xxx
