"It is strange how one's views can change as one grows older. During my earlier life, I always tended to focus more upon the gift as opposed to the wrapping or card which accompanied it. I was in my twenties before I began to realise how important presentation was, whether one was asking for a date, the last dance of the night, a job or someone to marry them.
Today, I spend as much time in preparing the presentation as I do in the gift itself and I will spend ages selecting the card with the right words. Never allow it to skip your mind, but you are your gift to the world and how you present yourself will determine your impact on it and others around you.
I have also been interested in fashion over the years, particularly the distinction between ladies and gentlemen. Whereas women's attire was invariably very uncomfortable, just so they could achieve the image that their men folk expected, the apparel of man tended to fit like a glove to be acceptable, whatever their girth.
Over the years, I have found that what is most important in a dress is not the dress, but the woman wearing it. I like a woman who doesn't do fashion, but is fashion! I like a person who is self. Now, that is my kind of woman!" William Forde: July 2nd, 2016.
