"Whilst we remain bound to permanent regret and defined by our pain, we shall forever feel battered, bruised and beaten. Unless we are prepared to open ourselves up to the light; to all that is good and wholesome, we will remain forever trapped in past hurtful memories, unable to free ourselves from the debris of self-destruction.
My New Year's prayer is that people trapped in the depths of depression and despair, and displaying a self-image that they believe to be worthless, find purpose in the coming year to give them the strength and hope they so badly need.
May we become a healing energy and allow all manner of love to enter our life. When we open our ears to the cry of others, we invariably loose concentration on our own pain. Once self-pity can be abandoned and we stop being stingy in our affection towards others in greater need than ourselves, we start to mean what we say and do what we intend.
My prayer for the New Year is: 'May I never give less than what is asked for by the needy nor refuse to help any child, widow, stranger or homeless person. May my presence be of benefit to all I encounter. May I learn to meet with a cheerful heart and may my life enrich the lives of everyone it touches. May I know what truly matters to those deep in depression, and how best to assist those lost travellers who are directionless and do not care to be found. May I learn to live in harmony with my God and others, and constantly reside in peace with myself. May I wish you all have a happy, healthy and holy New Year.'" William Forde: January 3rd, 2018
