'I love to see grouse angels soar
across the heather of Haworth Moor.
Wet uplands growing sphagnum in its earth.
among purple moss ground, God gave birth
to all winged beauty and boggy ruggedness beneath,
this summer wonderland He did bequeath.
When summer brings the heavens down
and purples fill the grass all 'round
my every step I walk and breathe,
this surely is the land bequeathed
by God to Brontes and Haworth folk.'
